Terms of use
Last updated: Draft
This is a draft, published so you can see where we stand while we finalise it with counsel. If you need something more formal, email hello@mapier.ai.
What these cover
These are the terms for playing Pane Lark and using its website and iMessage line, run by Mapier Labs. By texting the line or using the site you agree to them.
It is fiction
Pane Lark is a work of fiction. Its people, places, agencies, records and phone numbers are invented, and nothing in it is a real emergency or a real government service.
Do not contact real public agencies or emergency services about the story. If you are in a real emergency, call your local emergency number — not this line.
How to play
Text +1 (415) 200-8315 to begin. The line works as a one-to-one conversation; group chats are not supported. iMessage needs an Apple device.
Messages, rates and stopping
By texting the line you agree to receive the game's messages in that conversation. The game continues the conversation you started: it replies to you, and to what you do on its website. It does not message numbers that have not texted it first. How often it writes depends on how you play.
Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Carriers and Apple are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
To stop, stop replying and mute or block the number in Messages. To have us remove your number and delete your game data, email hello@mapier.ai. For help with the game, email the same address.
Using the game
Play it, share your ending, tell your friends. Do not harass the line, try to break or overload it or the site, or work around what protects them. We may stop replying to a number that does.
What is ours
The story, characters, writing and artwork are ours. You are welcome to talk about the game and share what you made of it; copying the game itself is a different thing and needs permission — ask at hello@mapier.ai.
As is, and subject to change
The game is provided as is, without warranty. It may change, pause or end, and the line may be unavailable at times.
Changes to these terms
We may update these. The date at the top changes when we do, and playing after that means the new version applies.
Governing law
California law governs, and the courts of San Francisco County have venue. Nothing here waives a jury or bars a class action.
